Mumbai University Cancels July 2 Examinations in Palghar and Panvel as Heavy Rain Disrupts Normal Life

Mumbai University has cancelled all examinations scheduled for July 2, 2026, in Palghar district and Panvel Municipal Corporation due to heavy rainfall. Schools have also been closed in Palghar and several parts of Raigad following weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department, as authorities prioritise public safety amid forecasts of extremely heavy rain.

The University of Mumbai has cancelled all examinations scheduled for July 2, 2026, for colleges located in Palghar district and within the jurisdiction of the Panvel Municipal Corporation after persistent heavy rainfall severely affected the region. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and educational staff amid worsening weather conditions.

In an official notice issued on July 1, the Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation announced that all government and private colleges in Palghar district and Panvel city would remain closed on July 2 due to adverse weather conditions. As a result, every examination scheduled for that day in the affected colleges has been cancelled.

The University stated that revised dates for the cancelled examinations will be announced separately through its official examination schedule. Students have been advised to regularly monitor the University's announcements for updates regarding the rescheduled examinations.

The continuing spell of heavy rainfall has also disrupted school education across several parts of Maharashtra. Authorities have declared a holiday for schools in Palghar district and multiple administrative divisions of Raigad district to safeguard students from the risks posed by the severe weather.
