Ceiling Collapse Injures Six Students at Karnataka Government School, Parents Had Warned

A deteriorating ceiling at a government school in Mugalolli Thanda, Bagalkot taluk, collapsed on Wednesday, injuring six students and triggering concerns over ignored warnings about the building’s condition.

The incident occurred at the government school, where the ceiling of the 2006-built structure gave way amid visible signs of deterioration, including exposed iron rods. Parents had reportedly warned about the poor condition of the building before the collapse.

Six students were injured in the incident, although some reports put the number at eight. The injured students were taken to a hospital for treatment and are reported to be stable.

Following the collapse, officials ordered immediate repairs to the school building and directed authorities to conduct a safety inquiry. Possible disciplinary action has also been ordered in connection with the incident.
