Ayesha Khan Claims Detention by Mumbai Police During Student Protest, Seeks Accountability Over Police Action
Ayesha Khan claimed she was detained by Mumbai Police during a student protest on July 22. The Dhurandhar actress shared videos alleging forced detention, questioned police action, and demanded accountability over the treatment of her and her friends at the protest site.
Ayesha shared videos on her Instagram Story, showing herself inside the police vehicle and explaining the situation. In one video, she said that her hands were shaking and claimed that she had been detained only for standing on the road peacefully. She stated that she had neither spoken against anyone nor initiated any protest and was present only because her brother and male friends had already been detained. She added that she and her two female friends were merely standing on the road.

Another individual inside the police vehicle said that he had a Mathematics practical examination and claimed that he was detained without any reason. He expressed concern that missing the examination would create a serious problem for him.
In another video, Ayesha was seen asking police personnel where they were being taken, but she claimed that she did not receive a response. She then questioned the officers over their actions and asked how they could carry out such measures peacefully.
The actress later shared a video in which four female police personnel appeared to be pushing her into the vehicle. While sharing the clip, Ayesha questioned the reason behind her detention and stated that it required four female police officers to move her inside. She asked whether she had created any disturbance, started any conversation, or violated any rule, adding that she was not even part of a group of five people.
Later, Ayesha shared a detailed video from Worli Police Station, explaining the sequence of events. She said that she had stepped out to support the protest, which was scheduled to begin at 4 PM, but claimed that she was detained before the protest or any discussion had started. She mentioned that the police personnel at the station were polite but demanded accountability and sought answers regarding the manner in which she and her friends were treated.
Earlier, Ayesha Khan had expressed support for the CJP protest through her Instagram Story. Sharing actor Omi Vaidya’s video, she requested media personnel and photographers to highlight the issue, stating that public awareness was important regarding developments in the country. She also said that it was unfortunate that she was unaware of the matter earlier and noted that people often become focused on glamour, appearance, and controversies while ignoring issues that require attention.
The incident involving Ayesha Khan’s alleged detention has brought renewed attention to the handling of student protests and the concerns raised by participants regarding police action. The actress’s demand for accountability has added further public focus to the circumstances surrounding the detention and the treatment of those present at the protest site.
