A joint team of the 66th Battalion of the Armed Border Force (SSB) and Nautanwa Police was conducting patrol operations in the border region when it intercepted a pickup vehicle near the border road close to Aarazi Sarkar alias Barihawa village. During the inspection, the team recovered 40 bags of urea fertilizer from the vehicle.
The driver was asked to provide valid documents related to the transportation of the fertilizer, but he failed to produce any paperwork. Based on the initial investigation, authorities suspected that the urea was being illegally transported to Nepal. The police immediately seized the fertilizer and began legal proceedings.
Police registered a case under the Essential Commodities Act against driver Deepak Kumar, resident of Kusaha, Police Station Kolhui; vehicle owner Rajesh, resident of Ward Number 15, Sarojini Nagar, Police Station Nautanwa; and Sonu Yadav, resident of Aarazi Sarkar alias Barihawa, Police Station Nautanwa.
Police officials stated that continuous joint operations are being conducted along the India-Nepal border to prevent the illegal movement of fertilizers, food grains, and other essential commodities. Authorities are maintaining strict surveillance over suspicious activities in the border area.
Officials further stated that strict legal action will be taken against individuals found involved in smuggling activities. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
The operation highlights the intensified efforts by security agencies and local police to curb illegal trade activities along the sensitive border region and ensure the regulated movement of essential commodities.
