Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his three-day state visit to Seychelles with a ceremonial welcome from President Dr. Patrick Herminie in Victoria. The visit includes official engagements, a tree-planting ceremony, interaction with Aldabra giant tortoises, and participation as Guest of Honour during Seychelles' Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations marking 50 years of diplomatic relations with India.
Members of the Indian diaspora also welcomed Prime Minister Modi with vibrant cultural performances, reflecting the strong people-to-people ties between India and Seychelles. The warm reception marked the beginning of a visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
As part of the official programme, Prime Minister Modi and President Herminie jointly participated in a tree-planting ceremony at the Seychelles National Botanical Garden under the "One Tree in Mother's Name" initiative. The two leaders also visited the Giant Tortoise Enclosure, where they interacted with the renowned Aldabra giant tortoises, one of Seychelles' most iconic wildlife species.
The three-day state visit coincides with Seychelles' Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations and commemorates the completion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. Prime Minister Modi is attending the celebrations as the Guest of Honour, highlighting the enduring partnership and growing strategic ties between the two countries.
