India and Thailand Strengthen Defence Ties at 10th Defence Dialogue in Bangkok, Pledge Expanded Cooperation in Defence Manufacturing and Indo-Pacific Security

The dialogue comprehensively reviewed all aspects of bilateral defence cooperation and facilitated an exchange of views on regional and global security developments. The meeting was co-chaired by Admiral Nattapol Dievavanich, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence of Thailand, and Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence of India.

Both delegations discussed the evolving security environment in the Indo-Pacific region and shared assessments of recent regional developments. They underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and reiterated their commitment to addressing shared security challenges through sustained dialogue and coordination.

The discussions also reviewed progress achieved in bilateral defence cooperation since the previous round of talks. Key areas of engagement included military coordination, capacity-building initiatives, training exchanges, maritime cooperation, and other areas of mutual interest. Both sides agreed to further advance cooperation across these domains to enhance operational understanding and interoperability.

A significant focus of the dialogue was the ongoing collaboration in the defence industry sector. India and Thailand explored new opportunities to expand partnerships in defence manufacturing, research, innovation, and capability development, aiming to build mutually beneficial frameworks between their respective defence ecosystems.

The delegations also deliberated on cooperation within regional and multilateral defence frameworks, including ASEAN-led mechanisms. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening practical cooperation and addressing shared security concerns through structured dialogue and sustained engagement.

The meeting concluded with both countries agreeing on a forward-looking roadmap to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. It was noted that India and Thailand elevated their bilateral relations to a formal Strategic Partnership in 2025, reflecting the growing depth and significance of their defence and security collaboration.
