Kawasaki Launches 2026 Ninja 500 in India at Rs 5.76 Lakh, Intensifying Middleweight Motorcycle Segment Rivalry
Kawasaki has launched the 2026 Ninja 500 in India at Rs 5.76 lakh, replacing its discontinued version with upgraded features and a 451 cc engine producing 38 kW power. Imported as a CBU, the bike carries a premium price and competes with Aprilia RS 457 and KTM RC 390 in the middleweight sports segment.
The 2026 Kawasaki Ninja 500 continues to be powered by a 451 cc engine, delivering 38 kilowatts of power and 43 Newton meters of torque. The motorcycle is paired with a six-speed gearbox, ensuring controlled and responsive performance suited for both city riding and highway conditions.
In terms of design and equipment, the motorcycle is offered with a range of modern features including LED headlamps, a fully digital instrument cluster, disc brakes on both wheels, 17-inch tyres, a 14-litre fuel tank, smartphone connectivity, an assist and slipper clutch system, and an Anti-lock Braking System. These features position the model as a technologically equipped offering in its category.
Kawasaki has priced the 2026 Ninja 500 at an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.76 lakh. The company attributes the premium pricing to the motorcycle being imported as a Completely Built Unit, which attracts significantly higher taxation in India. The new model is priced approximately Rs 10,000 higher than its predecessor.
In the Indian performance motorcycle market, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 competes directly with the Aprilia RS 457 and KTM RC 390, both of which are strong contenders in the middleweight sports bike segment, intensifying competition among premium entry-level performance motorcycles.
The launch of the 2026 Ninja 500 reinforces Kawasaki’s strategy of maintaining a strong foothold in India’s premium sports motorcycle market despite pricing pressures driven by import duties and competitive domestic offerings.
