The rebel MPs involved in the development are Sanjay Jadhav, Sanjay Deshmukh, Nagesh Patil Astikar, Omraje Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchaure, and Sanjay Dina Patil. The letter was handed over to the Speaker around 9:30 AM. According to sources, the document also suggests the formation of a separate faction. Following this development, Shiv Sena (UBT) is expected to be left with only three Members of Parliament.
Concerns have also emerged regarding a potential larger political shift in Maharashtra. Reports suggest that out of the 20 Shiv Sena (UBT) Members of the Legislative Assembly in the Maharashtra Assembly, as many as 16 may switch allegiance to the Eknath Shinde camp, further weakening the UBT faction’s legislative strength.
In an earlier instance of political realignment, 22 Members of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress were reported to have broken away from their party and joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCPI). Such developments are increasingly being viewed as a serious challenge for regional parties, which are struggling to retain their elected representatives amid shifting political loyalties. Sources also suggest that these political realignments are linked to efforts aimed at ensuring the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill and the Delimitation Bill.
Meanwhile, political tensions escalated in Uttar Pradesh after state minister Om Prakash Rajbhar claimed that Members of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party could soon join the National Democratic Alliance. He further alleged that Ram Gopal Yadav had written a confidential letter to Home Minister Amit Shah. The Samajwadi Party immediately dismissed these claims, calling them baseless. Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Afzal Ansari also stated that Rajbhar often makes statements without factual basis.
The unfolding developments across Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh underline a period of intense political instability, with shifting alliances posing a significant challenge to established party structures and parliamentary arithmetic.
