Tehri District Holds High-Level Election Review Meeting to Strengthen Electoral Roll Revision 2026
A high-level meeting was held in New Tehri under Election Commission directives to implement the Special Summary Revision Programme 2026. Officials and political party representatives reviewed voter list purification, new voter registration, deletion of deceased and migrated voters, and strengthening booth-level cooperation for a transparent electoral process.
The meeting was conducted on Tuesday under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Election Officer Shailendra Singh Negi. Representatives, presidents of all recognized political parties in the district, and Booth Level Agents-1 appointed for each assembly constituency were present during the session.
During the meeting, the Sub-Divisional Election Officer provided a detailed briefing on the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. He emphasized the objectives of the Special Summary Revision Programme, which include the purification of the voter list, registration of new eligible voters, deletion of deceased and migrated voters, and inclusion of all eligible citizens in the electoral roll.
Political parties were urged to extend active cooperation through their Booth Level Agents in verifying and scrutinizing voter lists at the booth level. The officer also called for widespread dissemination of Election Commission directives to ensure maximum public awareness and participation.
Special emphasis was placed on enhancing transparency, accuracy, and inclusiveness in the electoral process, with the objective of making the voter list error-free and fully representative.
All political party representatives present at the meeting assured full cooperation in accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India. Among those present were Devendra Naudiya from the Congress party, Rajendra Prasad Dobal, Jayendra Panwar, and Ramlal Nautiyal from the Bharatiya Janata Party, along with Additional District Election Officer Vijay Tiwari and Administrative Officer Jawahar Singh.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to strengthen the democratic process by ensuring a clean, accurate, and participatory electoral roll in Tehri district ahead of upcoming electoral exercises.
