Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Affidavit Reveals Detailed Financial Profile Amid Sweeping Electoral Victory in Assam
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s 2026 election affidavit reveals detailed financial disclosures, including Rs 2.36 crore in movable assets, no personal land or vehicle ownership, and combined family wealth of Rs 35.16 crore. The report also highlights his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma’s significant investments and property holdings amid a major electoral victory.
According to election affidavit details submitted for the 2026 Assembly elections, the Chief Minister has reported a relatively modest personal financial standing. His declared movable assets amount to Rs 2.36 crore. The affidavit states that Sarma does not own any agricultural or non-agricultural land in his individual capacity and does not possess any personal vehicle. His cash-in-hand stands at Rs 2.28 lakh, while he holds four bank deposits collectively valued at Rs 68.01 lakh.
The disclosure further confirms that he has made no investments in shares, bonds, debentures, mutual funds, or similar financial instruments. However, his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, Managing Director of Pride East Entertainments, holds substantial investments in these financial categories, amounting to approximately Rs 5.10 crore.
The combined declared wealth of the Sarma family, including assets owned by his wife, is recorded at nearly Rs 35.16 crore, while total liabilities stand at around Rs 16.86 crore.
Riniki Bhuyan Sarma’s individual financial profile includes Rs 3.16 lakh in cash and bank deposits worth Rs 74.85 lakh. She also holds a life insurance policy valued at approximately Rs 1.77 crore.
In terms of precious assets, Himanta Biswa Sarma owns 180 grams of gold valued at around Rs 25.10 lakh. His wife possesses gold jewellery and ornaments weighing over 1,459 grams, with an estimated value of nearly Rs 2.03 crore.
The affidavit also details immovable assets within the family. While the Chief Minister holds no property in his name, his wife owns three non-agricultural properties, including two acquired assets and one inherited from her father. Among the major holdings is a 12,960 square feet plot of land with a constructed residential house, valued at approximately Rs 1.60 crore.
Additionally, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma owns a jeep valued at Rs 21.60 lakh, which remains the only vehicle listed in the family’s declared assets.
The disclosure presents a comprehensive financial portrait of the Chief Minister and his family at a time when he is set to begin another term in office following a decisive electoral mandate.
