India Junior Women's Hockey Team Named for United Kingdom Exposure Tour Ahead of Junior Asia Cup
Hockey India has announced a 24-member junior women's squad for the United Kingdom exposure tour from July 5 to July 14. Under new coach Tim White, the team will play seven matches across Scotland and England, including fixtures against the Scotland Senior Women's Team and junior teams from the United States, England and Belgium, as part of preparations for the Junior Asia Cup.
The team, which will be guided by new coach Tim White, is set to play seven matches across Scotland and England during the nine-day tour. The exposure campaign is aimed at providing valuable international experience to the young players ahead of key competitions.
Midfielder Khaidem Shileima Chanu has been appointed captain of the side. Nidhi and Engil Harsha Rani Minz have been named as the two goalkeepers in the squad.
The defensive unit consists of Pooja Sahoo, Supriya, Madhu, F. Lalbi Aksiami, Lalneihpuii and Parwati Topno. The midfield department features captain Khaidem Shileima Chanu, Tanuja Toppo, Supriya Kujur, Pooja Malik, Binima Dhan, Geeta Yadav, Roshni Aind and Tanushree Dinesh Kadu.
The tour will begin with two matches against the Scotland Senior Women's Team at the University of Edinburgh. The Indian side will then face junior teams from the United States, England and Belgium in subsequent matches at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
The exposure tour represents an important phase in India's preparations for future international tournaments, with the young squad expected to gain crucial experience against quality opposition in Scotland and England ahead of the Junior Asia Cup.
