Mundra Airport Launches Commercial Flights, Strengthening Adani’s Integrated Logistics Vision Across Western India
Mundra Airport in Gujarat has begun commercial flight operations under Adani Group ownership, linking key cities including Mumbai, Goa, Bengaluru, and others. Operated by Star Air, the launch enhances regional connectivity, supports Mundra Port’s logistics ecosystem, and strengthens western India’s industrial and trade corridor integration.
Operated by Star Air, the inaugural services from Mundra Airport establish direct air connectivity with Mumbai and Goa, alongside additional routes linking Hindon, Surat, Belagavi, Bengaluru, Kolhapur, and Nanded. The launch positions Mundra as a growing aviation node within one of India’s most industrially significant corridors.
The airport, developed and owned by the Adani Group, features a 1,900-metre runway capable of accommodating a range of passenger and cargo aircraft. It is supported by a modern passenger terminal equipped with check-in counters, lounges, a food court, parking infrastructure, and accessibility facilities designed for passengers with reduced mobility.
The commencement of operations is closely tied to the industrial ecosystem anchored by Mundra Port and the Mundra Special Economic Zone, one of India’s largest notified and operational multi-product special economic zones. Industry representatives have indicated that enhanced air connectivity is expected to significantly reduce travel time for business executives, logistics operators, investors, and international partners engaged with port-led trade activities.
According to a statement issued by the Adani Group, the new connectivity will enhance last-mile logistics efficiency and strengthen integration between domestic and global supply chains. The company emphasized that improved accessibility to the trade gateway will support investor engagement and operational mobility across the region.
The launch also reinforces the Adani Group’s expanding aviation footprint. Through its airport operations vertical, the conglomerate already manages facilities in Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangaluru, and Guwahati, further consolidating its presence across India’s airport infrastructure sector.
With commercial services now operational, Mundra Airport is expected to accommodate growing passenger demand while supporting Kutch’s evolution into a major hub for trade, manufacturing, logistics, and tourism. The development underscores a broader strategy of aligning aviation infrastructure with port-led industrial growth to strengthen western India’s economic corridor.
