AI-Generated Obscene Videos Used for Blackmail, Accused Arrested After Demanding Rs 500,000
A young woman from Sadar Bazar alleged that her former acquaintance used artificial intelligence to create fake obscene videos and extort money by threatening to ruin her marriage. After she refused further payments and the clips were sent to her fiancé through Facebook Messenger, police registered a case and arrested the accused following an investigation.
According to information provided by the complainant, the woman, a resident of Sadar Bazar, had developed a friendship with a man identified as Vilas Raj nearly a year ago. During that period, her marriage was arranged. She alleged that the accused used photographs in his possession from the time of their friendship and employed artificial intelligence technology to create obscene videos and MMS clips.
The victim alleged that the accused demanded Rs 500,000 and threatened to release the videos publicly and send them to her fiancé. Fearing social disgrace and the collapse of her marriage, she paid the accused nearly Rs 100,000 on different occasions. When she refused to pay any further amount, the accused allegedly sent the obscene videos to her fiancé through Facebook Messenger.
According to the complaint, the accused continued to pressure her by threatening to circulate the videos on social media and sabotage her marriage. Distressed by the continuing harassment, the woman approached the Sadar Bazar Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Superintendent of Police City Vinayak Bhosale said that after examining the complaint submitted by the woman, a case was registered against the accused. Following the investigation, police arrested Vilas Raj.
The case has highlighted the growing misuse of artificial intelligence technology for cyber extortion and harassment, exposing how digitally manipulated content can be used to exploit victims and inflict severe personal and social damage.
