In a horrific crime in Delhi, a 10-year-old balloon-selling girl from a Bihar migrant family living on the pavement was kidnapped, raped and murdered by 25-year-old app-based taxi driver Bablu in Mehrauli. A 10-year-old girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered by a taxi driver in Delhi, police said. The child's body was recovered from a forested area in Mehrauli.The girl's family, originally from Bihar, informed the police through a police emergency call around 5 am on Monday that their daughter had gone missing. The family lived on the pavement after losing their rented home. The young girl sold balloons, while her parents worked as daily-wage labourers. The couple has four children, including the deceased girl.Mehrauli police immediately launched a search operation. Officers scanned footage from hundreds of CCTV cameras in the area. During the investigation, they received information about a suspicious taxi driver. Within four hours, police arrested the accused, identified as 25-year-old Bablu, who drives an app-based cab.During interrogation, Bablu confessed to the crime. He revealed that he kidnapped the girl from a footpath near CDR Chowk in the Mehrauli area. He then took her towards Gurugram, where he raped her. Police recovered the girl's body based on the information provided by the accused.Police stated that all legal proceedings are underway and the strictest possible action will be taken against the accused.This brutal incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of young children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the national capital, where rapid urbanisation often leaves migrant families exposed to grave risks on the streets.Meta Description:
