Fire Kills 15 Students After Blaze Engulfs Lucknow Coaching Centre Building
A massive fire suspected to have been caused by an air conditioner short circuit swept through a three-storey building in Lucknow's Aliganj area, killing 15 students and injuring five others. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced compensation, suspended four officials for negligence and ordered arrests, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief and announced additional assistance.
The building housed a graphics animation centre, a gaming zone, a pet clinic and a library. According to officials, the blaze spread rapidly through the structure, trapping several occupants inside. Most of the victims died from suffocation, while some lost their lives after jumping from the upper floors in desperate attempts to escape the flames.

Five other people sustained injuries in the incident and were admitted to King George's Medical University, where they received treatment. Emergency response teams carried out rescue operations as authorities began examining the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the bereaved families and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the families of each deceased victim and Rs 50,000 for those injured. He also ordered strict action over alleged lapses, suspended four officials for negligence and directed authorities to arrest the owners of the building.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish over the incident and announced additional assistance for the affected families. Political leaders from across the country offered condolences as demands intensified for stricter enforcement of safety regulations and improved emergency preparedness.
The tragedy has once again brought the issue of building safety and regulatory compliance into sharp focus, with growing calls for accountability and stronger safeguards to prevent such disasters from claiming more lives
