Brutal Murder in Vasai: Engineer Allegedly Killed, Stuffed in Drum Over Financial Dispute with Lover
A 26-year-old engineer from Mumbra was allegedly murdered in Vasai after being tied up, beaten, and stuffed into a drum before his body was dumped in a drain. Police say the killing was planned by his married lover and accomplices over financial disputes. Investigation continues with arrests and absconding suspects.
The deceased, identified as Arbaz Maqsood Ali Khan from Mumbra, was employed as an engineer with a well-known real estate developer in Dombivli. Investigators said Khan had been in a relationship since 2021 with 25-year-old Mehajabeen Khatun Ekran Sheikh. What initially began as a close personal relationship allegedly deteriorated into repeated monetary demands, with police claiming that Khan had transferred money to her on multiple occasions over the years.
The case surfaced after Khan went missing on April 3. According to police, he had traveled to the Dadar area of Mumbai to collect cash for his company but never returned home. His father subsequently filed a missing complaint at the Mumbra Police Station, prompting a detailed investigation.
During the probe, officers examined call detail records and mobile location data, which allegedly placed Khan’s last known position in Vasai, matching that of Mehajabeen Sheikh. Investigators also discovered that Khan had transferred ₹50,000 to the accused just one day before his disappearance.
Police stated that Mehajabeen Sheikh initially denied any knowledge of Khan’s whereabouts during interrogation. However, further investigation allegedly revealed a coordinated attack involving her husband Hasan Sheikh, her brother Tariq Sheikh, and another accused, Mojjam Pathan, who remains absconding.
According to the findings of the investigation, Khan was allegedly called to Mehajabeen Sheikh’s residence in the Bhoidapada area of Vasai, where additional money was demanded from him. When he was unable to provide more funds, the accused allegedly tied his hands and legs and assaulted him with plastic pipes.
Officials reported that the severe head injuries inflicted during the assault resulted in Khan’s death at the scene. Following the killing, the accused allegedly placed his body inside a green drum and disposed of it in an isolated drain within the jurisdiction of Valiv Police Station in an attempt to destroy evidence and avoid detection.
Police arrested Mehajabeen Sheikh and her brother Tariq Sheikh on May 7. Her husband Hasan Sheikh and the fourth accused, Mojjam Pathan, remain at large, with dedicated teams deployed to trace them.
A case has been registered at Mumbra Police Station under multiple provisions of the Indian Justice Code, including charges of murder, kidnapping, and destruction of evidence, as the investigation continues into the carefully planned and brutal crime.
