The footage shows an elderly man dressed in white traditional attire standing in a corner of a Delhi Metro elevator while a fellow commuter confronts him, questioning him in Hindi and addressing him as “uncle,” expressing visible dismay at his conduct.
The video rapidly gained traction online, receiving thousands of likes and reposts within hours. Social media users strongly condemned the act, describing it as unacceptable and unhygienic, and urged the Delhi Metro authorities along with law enforcement agencies to take immediate action against the individual involved.
According to applicable civic regulations in Delhi, public urination is a punishable offence under municipal bylaws, carrying fines of up to ₹10,000. The presence of public restroom facilities within metro premises has further intensified criticism regarding the incident. However, as of now, there has been no official statement or response from the Delhi Metro authorities or police regarding the matter.
The incident has once again raised concerns about civic discipline in public transport systems and the need for stricter enforcement of sanitation and behavioural regulations in high-traffic urban infrastructure.
