NEET Re-Examination Announced Amid Paper Leak Probe as Government Orders Major Overhaul Toward Computer-Based Testing

India’s Education Minister has announced major NEET reforms following a paper leak controversy, including a re-examination scheduled for June 21, admit cards on June 14, extended exam time, and a shift to CBT mode from next year. The CBI investigation continues alongside a push for a zero-error exam system.

India’s Education Minister has announced reforms after the NEET paper leak controversy, including a re-examination on June 21 with admit cards on June 14, extended exam duration, and a shift to Computer-Based Testing from next year. The CBI is probing the alleged leak as authorities aim for a zero-error examination system.

The decision follows serious concerns over the integrity of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, prompting urgent administrative action and a nationwide review of examination security protocols. The re-examination has been formally scheduled for June 21, while admit cards for candidates will be issued by June 14. In a move aimed at easing candidate pressure, the duration of the examination has been extended by 15 minutes.

In a significant policy shift, the government has confirmed that NEET will transition fully to a Computer-Based Test format from the next academic cycle, replacing the existing OMR-based system. The change has been introduced to strengthen transparency and reduce the risk of paper leaks and other examination irregularities.

Parallelly, the Central Bureau of Investigation is actively probing the alleged paper leak, with authorities emphasizing strict action against all individuals found responsible. The administration has reiterated its commitment to establishing a zero-error examination system designed to restore confidence in national-level competitive examinations.
