According to police officials, the accused, identified as Nagesh Kumar, is believed to be the principal leader of an international cyber slavery syndicate. The group allegedly targeted young job seekers in India by promising lucrative employment opportunities abroad. Victims were charged substantial sums, running into lakhs of rupees, as processing and placement fees for foreign jobs.
Once transported to Cambodia and Thailand, several individuals were reportedly held hostage and coerced into participating in cyber fraud and other online criminal activities. The operation involved systematic intimidation and forced labor within cyber scam centres, where victims were compelled to target unsuspecting individuals through digital fraud schemes.
The case surfaced after multiple complaints were filed by affected youngsters, prompting an investigation by the Agra Cyber Cell. The investigation revealed that numerous Indian citizens had been trapped in the racket and subjected to coercion to carry out cybercrimes under duress.
Following coordinated raids, law enforcement authorities arrested Nagesh Kumar from the Palampur region in Himachal Pradesh. Officials also confirmed that several other associates linked to the syndicate had been previously arrested and imprisoned in connection with similar offenses.
Police further stated that the mobile phone recovered from the accused is a critical piece of evidence. Preliminary analysis has revealed multiple communications indicating links with foreign entities, particularly companies based in China, which may provide key leads in uncovering the wider international network behind the operation.
Authorities continue to expand the investigation to identify additional victims and dismantle the remaining structure of the trafficking and cybercrime syndicate.
