Adani Airport Holdings and IHG Hotels & Resorts Sign Landmark Agreement to Develop Five Hotels Across India, Marking Kimpton’s Debut

Adani Airport Holdings and IHG Hotels & Resorts have signed an agreement to develop five hotels across key Indian cities, adding 1,500 keys and marking Kimpton’s debut in India. The partnership strengthens airport-led hospitality ecosystems across Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and other major urban hubs.

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) on Thursday announced a strategic agreement with IHG Hotels & Resorts to develop five hotels across key airport-linked and high-growth urban destinations, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram, strengthening India’s expanding hospitality and aviation-led infrastructure landscape.

Under the agreement, nearly 1,500 hotel keys will be added across multiple brands and locations, aligned with IHG’s long-term growth strategy in India. AAHL stated that it is also in advanced discussions with IHG to further expand and deepen the partnership, indicating a broader roadmap for hospitality-led development across airport cities.

A key highlight of the agreement is the debut of IHG’s luxury lifestyle boutique brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, in the Indian market. The portfolio also includes Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties, which will be developed as part of upcoming hospitality-led mixed-use projects within Adani Airport Cities.

Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, stated that the initiative aligns with the group’s vision of creating world-class destinations that integrate travel, hospitality, and urban experiences around India’s rapidly growing aviation ecosystem. He emphasized that the collaboration with global hotel brands is aimed at delivering international standards of service, operational excellence, and scalable hospitality infrastructure.

The development includes a Kimpton hotel in Jaipur and additional properties across key gateway cities, reflecting rising demand for premium lifestyle and business hospitality experiences in India. According to AAHL, the initiative is driven by strong growth in aviation, tourism, and airport-led commercial infrastructure, supported by increasing passenger traffic, domestic tourism, and business travel demand.

IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 52 hotels in India across six brands and has a pipeline of 98 additional hotels expected to open over the next three to five years. AAHL currently operates airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram.

The company also highlighted its broader strategy of transforming airports into integrated urban ecosystems combining aviation, retail, hospitality, commercial, and social infrastructure. Through airport city developments spanning approximately 663 acres across major cities, AAHL aims to create large-scale mixed-use destinations designed to enhance travel experiences and drive long-term urban and economic growth.

This agreement underscores the accelerating convergence of aviation infrastructure and global hospitality investment in India, positioning airport-led developments as emerging hubs for premium accommodation, commercial expansion, and international tourism growth.
