India Condemns Attack on Indian-Flagged Ship Near Oman; Crew Safe, Maritime Security Concerns Raised

India condemned the attack on an Indian-flagged ship near Oman, confirming all crew members were safe and thanking Omani authorities for rescue. The ministry stressed freedom of navigation, security of global maritime commerce, and continued India-bound tanker operations amid rising tensions in West Asia and the Strait of Hormuz.

The Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack on an Indian-flagged vessel off the coast of Oman, describing the incident as "unacceptable" and expressing concern over repeated assaults on commercial shipping in the region. The ministry confirmed that all Indian crew members on board were unharmed and extended gratitude to Omani authorities for their prompt rescue operation.

India reiterated its firm opposition to attacks targeting merchant vessels and civilian sailors, emphasizing that freedom of navigation and uninterrupted global maritime commerce must be maintained. The attack occurred amid escalating tensions in West Asia and ongoing security challenges around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping corridor.

Despite the heightened security risks, reports indicate that several India-bound liquefied petroleum gas tankers continued to traverse the strategic waterway without interruption. The ministry’s response underlines India’s commitment to safeguarding its maritime interests and ensuring the protection of its nationals and commercial assets abroad.

The incident highlights persistent threats to international shipping lanes in a geopolitically sensitive region, reinforcing the necessity of coordinated maritime security measures and vigilant monitoring to prevent disruption to global trade and energy supplies.
