The NEET-UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3 for more than 2.27 million medical aspirants, was cancelled after investigators confirmed that a leaked “guess paper” substantially matched the actual examination questions. The scandal triggered nationwide outrage among students and parents, raising serious concerns about the integrity and security of India’s competitive examination system.
Reacting to the controversy, Kejriwal appealed directly to young people across the country, asking them to organize peaceful demonstrations against those allegedly responsible for the leak. Drawing comparisons with recent youth-led political uprisings in Nepal and Bangladesh that resulted in the removal of governments and political leadership, he questioned why India’s youth could not force accountability and ensure imprisonment for ministers allegedly connected to such scandals.
The controversy has expanded rapidly following the launch of a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the examination leak network. Multiple arrests have already been reported across several states as investigators examine allegations of organized malpractice linked to the circulation of examination material before the test.
Kejriwal further intensified his criticism by alleging that 93 examination paper leaks have occurred in India since 2014. He also questioned the independence and credibility of the ongoing investigation, dismissing the inquiry process as insufficient to ensure accountability.
The cancellation of one of India’s largest entrance examinations has left millions of students facing uncertainty regarding their academic future.
