Heroin Smuggling Network Busted in Amritsar; One Arrested with 6 Kg Contraband

Counter Intelligence Amritsar busts a heroin smuggling network, arresting one accused with 6 kg of contraband near Adda Manawala. Probe reveals links to a Dubai-based handler with multiple cases, exposing an international narcotics nexus.

In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar has dismantled a drug smuggling network and arrested one accused with a significant quantity of heroin. The operation was carried out near Adda Manawala on the Amritsar–Jalandhar highway, where the suspect was intercepted and taken into custody.

Authorities recovered 6 kilograms of heroin from the possession of the accused during the operation, marking a substantial seizure in the ongoing crackdown on illegal drug trade in the region. The arrest is being seen as a critical step in exposing a wider cross-border trafficking nexus.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was allegedly operating under the directions of a handler based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The handler has been identified as Interpreet Singh, a resident of Sultanwind, who is believed to be actively involved in narcotics smuggling operations. Officials confirmed that multiple cases have already been registered against Interpreet Singh in connection with drug-related offenses.

Following the arrest and seizure, a formal case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation to trace further links in the network and identify other individuals involved in the operation.
