Bombay Banta Raises Rs 8 Crore in Pre-Series A Funding to Accelerate India Expansion and Challenge Global Beverage Giants
Bombay Banta has raised Rs 8 crore in a Pre-Series A funding round led by DSG Consumer Partners to accelerate nationwide expansion, strengthen quick commerce distribution and expand its premium Indian beverage portfolio. The rapidly growing company aims to build a globally recognised beverage brand rooted in nostalgic Indian flavours and modern consumer preferences.
The latest funding round was led by DSG Consumer Partners, which had also led Bombay Banta’s seed funding round in late 2023. The company additionally received strategic investment support from hospitality entrepreneur Kapil Chopra, founder of EazyDiner and The Postcard Hotel. During the company’s formative years, Bombay Banta was also backed by hospitality industry collaborators and early investors Simrita Arora and Chef Deep Mohan Arneja, who played a role in product development and brand building.
Founded in 2021 by husband-wife entrepreneurs Akkshita Malhotra and Meet Singh Malhotra, Bombay Banta was established with the vision of transforming India’s iconic traditional beverage flavours into a premium modern product line supported by world-class branding, packaging and large-scale distribution. What initially began as an effort to modernise the nostalgic marble-sealed soda bottle experience has now evolved into one of India’s fastest-growing beverage brands competing against established multinational and domestic players.
Speaking on the latest funding round, co-founders Akkshita Malhotra and Meet Singh Malhotra said the investment represents a defining growth phase for the company. They stated that Bombay Banta aims to disrupt the Indian beverage industry by reviving flavour memories familiar to generations of consumers while delivering modern ingredients, premium packaging and differentiated branding. They added that the capital infusion and investor support would strengthen the company’s long-term expansion plans within India and eventually in international markets.
Hari Premkumar, Partner at DSG Consumer Partners, stated that Bombay Banta has created a highly differentiated beverage brand positioned at the intersection of nostalgia, flavour and contemporary consumer relevance. He said the founders have demonstrated strong product development instincts and exceptional brand-building capability in an intensely competitive market while creating significant consumer resonance across multiple distribution channels.
Bombay Banta currently offers eight products across carbonated and non-carbonated beverage categories. Its carbonated product range includes Masala Cola, Masala Soda, Black Plum Beverage, Cumin Soda and Lemon Soda. Its non-carbonated portfolio includes reduced-sugar, vitamin-enriched lemon-based beverages such as Masala Lemonade, Lemon Lemonade and Jamun Lemonade designed for health-conscious consumers.
The company first gained nationwide visibility after becoming the featured beverage brand onboard Vistara Airlines, introducing Bombay Banta to premium urban consumers across India. Since then, the brand has significantly expanded its presence across airlines, restaurants, cafés, delivery-focused food brands and major hospitality groups.
As of 2026, Bombay Banta beverages are being served across hundreds of hotels and restaurants throughout India, including luxury hospitality brands that have incorporated the products into minibar services, in-room dining menus and restaurant offerings. Several restaurant chains and food service operators have also increasingly shifted away from conventional multinational soft drink brands in favour of Bombay Banta’s modern Indian beverage portfolio.
The company has simultaneously expanded aggressively within India’s quick commerce and electronic commerce sectors. Bombay Banta products are currently available on major platforms including Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart Minutes and BigBasket, where the company has emerged as one of the fastest-growing brands in its category.
The newly raised capital will primarily be used to accelerate nationwide expansion, strengthen distribution infrastructure, deepen quick commerce penetration and significantly widen the company’s product portfolio over the coming months. Bombay Banta is also preparing to launch Diet Vanilla Cola later in May, marking its entry into the zero-sugar and zero-calorie carbonated beverage category.
The company has also recorded substantial business momentum during the investment process. Even before the funding round formally concluded, Bombay Banta registered nearly 50 percent growth in sales during discussions with investors. The founders are now targeting a doubling of revenues over the next six months, driven by strong seasonal demand during summer and upcoming product launches.
The Pre-Series A round values Bombay Banta at Rs 80 crore, representing a sharp increase from the company’s early-stage valuation achieved within a relatively short period. The rapid rise in customer adoption and investor confidence reflects growing market acceptance of Bombay Banta’s strategy to create a globally relevant beverage brand inspired by Indian flavours, authenticity and nostalgia.
At the centre of the company’s long-term vision is the ambition to establish a globally recognised beverage brand originating from India while competing against multinational industry leaders. The founders maintain that the next major international beverage success story can emerge from India through authentic local flavours redesigned for modern global consumers.
Bombay Banta’s leadership team combines hospitality and consumer industry expertise. Akkshita Malhotra oversees brand and consumer strategy and was previously associated with major hospitality and consumer companies including Nestlé and PVR. Meet Singh Malhotra leads the development of the company’s signature beverage recipes and is a Gold Medallist from The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development and among the youngest Executive Chefs within the Oberoi ecosystem.
With strong investor backing, rapid market expansion and rising consumer demand, Bombay Banta is positioning itself to challenge an industry historically dominated by multinational beverage corporations while redefining Indian flavour-driven beverages for modern consumers across domestic and international markets.
