NEET-UG 2026 Cancelled Nationwide After Confirmed Paper Leak Sparks Outrage
NEET-UG 2026 has been cancelled after central agencies confirmed a major paper leak network operating across Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Bihar. Investigators found over 135 matching questions shared through WhatsApp and Telegram, triggering nationwide outrage, student distress, and demands for accountability from the Education Ministry.
According to the information released, investigators uncovered a coordinated network that allegedly circulated the examination paper before the test was conducted. Two brothers are accused of purchasing the leaked paper for Rs 30 lakh before allegedly distributing it through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Authorities reportedly found that more than 135 questions matched a version of the paper that had already been circulated digitally before the examination.
The National Testing Agency subsequently announced the cancellation of the examination, citing confirmed irregularities and the need to preserve the integrity of the admission process. Officials stated that a fresh examination will now be conducted within the next seven to ten days. Candidates will not be required to pay any additional examination fee for the re-test.
The cancellation has caused severe emotional and financial distress among students and families who spent months preparing for the highly competitive examination. In Bihar, one family with two siblings appearing for the examination described the situation as devastating after already enduring previous examination leak controversies. The family said the repeated disruptions have resulted in wasted scores, mounting financial pressure, and deep mental exhaustion.
The controversy has also intensified criticism against the administration and renewed demands for accountability at the highest level. Several critics have questioned the functioning of the examination system and called for strict action against those responsible for the leak. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has come under increasing pressure as concerns grow over the security and transparency of national-level examinations.
The cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 marks another major setback for India’s examination system, raising serious questions about institutional accountability, digital security, and the future of millions of students dependent on fair and transparent competitive testing.
