Etihad Airways Flight Cancelled After Wing Fire Scare, IndiGo Aircraft Diverted Amid Severe Turbulence

An Etihad Airways flight carrying nearly 280 passengers was cancelled after a fire was detected on the aircraft’s left wing during takeoff preparations, while an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Patna was diverted to Lucknow after encountering severe turbulence and worsening weather conditions, triggering panic among passengers onboard.

An Etihad Airways flight bound for Abu Dhabi carrying nearly 280 passengers was forced to abort takeoff on Monday after a fire was detected on the aircraft’s left wing, prompting an emergency response at the airport. In a separate aviation incident, an IndiGo flight travelling from Delhi to Patna was diverted to Lucknow after encountering severe turbulence and deteriorating weather conditions near Patna airspace, causing panic among passengers onboard.

According to airport officials, the Etihad Airways aircraft was preparing for departure when the pilot noticed flames emerging from the left wing during takeoff procedures. The pilot immediately halted the departure as a precautionary measure to prevent the situation from escalating.

Emergency response teams and airport fire crews rushed to the scene within moments after the alert was raised. Officials confirmed that the fire was extinguished immediately, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew members onboard while preventing further damage to the aircraft.

Authorities stated that every passenger safely evacuated the aircraft and no injuries were reported in the incident. Following the emergency situation, airport authorities officially cancelled the flight.

The IndiGo flight 6E6497 was carrying 181 passengers along with six crew members at the time of the incident. The aircraft was being piloted by Member of Parliament Rajiv Pratap Rudy along with co-pilot Rajiv Mishra when it encountered strong winds and intense turbulence mid-air.

As weather conditions deteriorated further, the flight was diverted to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow as a precautionary measure. The aircraft landed safely at approximately 10:49 PM, bringing relief to passengers after moments of panic inside the cabin.

The two separate incidents have once again highlighted the critical importance of emergency preparedness, rapid response systems, and strict aviation safety protocols in ensuring passenger safety during unforeseen mid-air and ground emergencies.
