UNFOLD 2026: IIAD/UDIT Graduate Show Unveils India’s Next Generation of Designers at New Delhi Campus

UNFOLD 2026 at IIAD/UDIT in New Delhi showcased graduating students across design disciplines with exhibitions, panels, and awards. The event featured leading industry figures including Sunil Sethi and Tarun Tahiliani, highlighting interdisciplinary learning, innovation, and sustainability in creative education.

 

The Institute of Indian Art and Design (IIAD) and UDIT hosted their annual Graduate Show, UNFOLD 2026, on 9 and 10 May at the New Delhi campus, bringing together leading industry professionals, creative practitioners, distinguished academicians, and members of the wider design community to celebrate the graduating batch across multiple disciplines.

The two-day event marked the culmination of students’ academic and creative journeys and featured a comprehensive showcase comprising exhibitions, panel discussions, industry interactions, a fashion show, and award ceremonies. Academic programmes represented included Interior Architecture and Design, Fashion Communication, Communication Design, Fashion Business Management, Fashion Design, and Foundation Design.

The opening of UNFOLD 2026 was formally inaugurated through a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the opening of the graduate exhibition. The showcase presented interdisciplinary student work spanning campaigns, films, design interventions, architectural installations, fashion collections, spatial experiences, and emerging technological applications. The projects explored themes of sustainability, social impact, innovation, craft, urban futures, and experiential storytelling.

The event witnessed participation from several prominent figures across fashion, architecture, design, media, and business. Distinguished attendees included Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India; celebrated fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani; Vimarsh Razdan, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Underneat; architect and computational design pioneer Sushant Verma of rat[LAB]; documentary filmmaker Faiza Khan; art director Mainak Das; Raunaq Singh, Assistant Vice President of Creative Design at Naukri.com; Urvashi Gupta, Head of Account Management for South Asia at WGSN; photographer and visual storyteller Charudutt Chitrak; and architect Ashok B Lall, among others.

Addressing the graduating cohort, Dr Jitin Chadha, Pro Chancellor of UDIT, emphasised the importance of industry-integrated learning and socially responsible creative practice in shaping future-ready professionals. He stated that UNFOLD represents the journey of students, faculty mentorship, and a collaborative academic culture, highlighting the consistent inspiration drawn from students engaging with real-world challenges through creativity, technology, and human-centred design thinking.

The eighth edition of the Graduate Show also featured a series of industry-led panel discussions and interactive sessions across multiple departments, including Interior Architecture and Design, Fashion Communication, Communication Design, and Fashion Business Management. These sessions provided students with critical insights into contemporary industry practices while reinforcing the importance of adaptability, research-driven thinking, and socially conscious creative approaches.

Industry experts and creative leaders interacted closely with students, offering practical perspectives on the evolving expectations of global design and fashion industries. The engagements further underscored the growing significance of interdisciplinary collaboration and industry-integrated education in modern creative fields.

A key highlight of UNFOLD 2026 was the departmental award ceremonies recognising outstanding graduate projects. Students were honoured for exceptional work across communication campaigns, animation films, spatial interventions, sustainable fashion solutions, branding systems, user experience and user interface design, retail concepts, and business-oriented design strategies. The awarded projects were recognised for addressing contemporary cultural, social, technological, and environmental challenges while demonstrating strong interdisciplinary learning and industry relevance.

By bringing together emerging talent, academicians, and global creative leaders on a single platform, UNFOLD 2026 underscored the increasing convergence of design, business, technology, and culture. The event reflected UDIT’s continued commitment to interdisciplinary education and industry-engaged learning.
