Himanta Biswa Sarma Sworn in as Assam Chief Minister for Second Term in Grand Ceremony in Guwahati
Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as Assam Chief Minister for a second term at a grand ceremony in Guwahati attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, and NDA chief ministers. The event marked the formation of a new cabinet and reinforced the BJP’s continued governance in Assam with promises of accelerated development.
Alongside the Chief Minister, Rameshwar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro, and Ajanta Neog also took oath as ministers in the new state cabinet, marking the formation of a renewed government in Assam.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Naveen, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and several other Chief Ministers from National Democratic Alliance-ruled states. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also attended the event.
Following the ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his council of ministers, acknowledging the formation of the new government.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the leadership, stating that governments operating under the “double-engine governance model” are setting new benchmarks of development under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the occasion as a moment of great satisfaction, noting that this marks the third consecutive government formation by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Assam. He emphasized that the people of Assam have reaffirmed their trust in Prime Minister Modi and Himanta Biswa Sarma, adding that the coming five years would be dedicated to accelerated development.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta termed the occasion a moment of pride, highlighting that the third successive government in Assam reflects the strong leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma and the public’s continued faith in his governance and development work.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that a developed Assam is integral to the vision of a developed India, adding that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, the state would continue to achieve new milestones of progress.
The ceremony marked a significant political milestone for Assam, reinforcing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong electoral mandate and setting the stage for a new phase of governance and development in the state.
