Salim Dola, Key Operator of Dawood Ibrahim Network, Brought to India After Istanbul Arrest in Secret Operation
Salim Dola, alleged operator of Dawood Ibrahim’s network, has been brought to India from Istanbul in a covert operation. After interrogation in Delhi, he will be transferred to Mumbai for further questioning by NCB and Crime Branch in major drug trafficking cases across multiple states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana, intensifying the investigation into international synthetic drug networks.
The accused was brought to Delhi’s Technical Airport on the morning of Tuesday, April 28, via a special aircraft after being detained in Istanbul. Upon arrival, he was immediately taken into custody by central intelligence agencies along with a Mumbai-based Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team, which began intensive interrogation.
Following preliminary questioning in Delhi, the NCB is scheduled to transfer Salim Dola to Mumbai on Wednesday. In Mumbai, the agency will conduct further interrogation before formally handing him over to the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch for continued investigation.
According to official sources, the Mumbai Crime Branch has already completed preparations to interrogate Dola in connection with major drug trafficking cases registered in Sangli, Mysore, and Telangana. Investigators have identified him as the alleged mastermind behind these synthetic drug manufacturing networks operating across multiple states.
Authorities have alleged that Salim Dola was operating a large-scale international drug syndicate while remaining based overseas. He is accused of controlling the supply chain of synthetic drugs in India and coordinating the functioning of illicit drug production units across different regions of the country. These units were reportedly engaged in mass-scale manufacturing and distribution of synthetic narcotics.
Dola, originally from Mumbai, had been absconding for a prolonged period and was evading Indian law enforcement agencies. Several drug trafficking cases are registered against him in India. In March 2024, at the request of Indian authorities, Interpol issued a Red Notice against him, intensifying global efforts for his arrest.
The Narcotics Control Bureau informed the court that Dola must be transferred to Mumbai as a case is already registered against him in the city. The accused was ultimately detained in Istanbul as part of a coordinated international operation conducted by multiple agencies.
His transfer to Mumbai marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into transnational drug trafficking networks linked to organized crime. Authorities are expected to intensify interrogation to uncover deeper links within the synthetic drug supply chain operating across India and abroad.
