Galgotias University Secures Position in THE World University Rankings 2026, Strengthening Global Academic Standing
Galgotias University has been recognised in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, securing the 27th position among private universities in India. The university demonstrates strong research output, patents, global faculty recognition, and funded projects, reflecting its growing academic excellence and international reputation.
In the 2026 edition of the rankings, which assessed more than 1,300 universities across India, only 128 institutions secured a place. Galgotias University has been included in this elite list and has achieved the 27th position among private universities in India, reinforcing its rising academic visibility and strengthening presence in the higher education landscape.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings evaluate institutions across multiple performance indicators, including teaching quality, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry engagement. Among these parameters, Research Quality has emerged as a key strength for Galgotias University, reflecting improved scholarly output, enhanced academic visibility, and increasing research impact at a global level.
Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, Chief Executive Officer of Galgotias University, stated that the recognition represents more than an institutional milestone. He described it as a moment of collective achievement shared by students, parents, and the broader national academic ecosystem, highlighting India’s growing role in global education leadership.
The university has developed a robust research ecosystem, securing 31 patents that reflect its focus on innovation and intellectual property creation. Its Scopus-indexed research profile demonstrates strong academic performance with over 8,500 published documents, more than 65,500 citations, and an h-index of 94, underscoring the depth and influence of its scholarly contributions.
Further strengthening its global academic reputation, seven faculty members of the university have been ranked among the world’s top 2 percent scientists, highlighting exceptional research excellence. Additionally, the institution has successfully secured 15 government-funded research projects, with total external funding of approximately INR 1.70 crore. These grants have been supported by leading national agencies, including ICSSR, ANRF, CSIR, SERB, DHR, IUAC, and the IIT Bombay TIH Foundation.
This recognition builds on the university’s earlier performance in the QS Subject Rankings for Computer Science, where it was placed 11th among private universities in India. Together, these achievements reflect the institution’s growing reputation for academic excellence, innovation-driven learning, and future-focused education.
