Punjab Elections 2027: AAP Releases First List of 40 Candidates, Ministers Left Out
AAP has released its first list of 40 candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections 2027. CM Bhagwant Mann and Manish Sisodia announced the names, while cabinet ministers remain absent from the list.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and state in-charge Manish Sisodia confirmed the candidates during a press conference, putting an end to speculation over the names included in the first list.
The announcement comes amid expectations that the party could deny tickets to 30 to 40 sitting MLAs in Punjab as part of its electoral preparations.
Candidate Names Approved at Political Affairs Committee Meeting
Before the announcement, the names of the candidates were finalised at a meeting of the party's Political Affairs Committee held at Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Delhi.
Following the release of the first list, the possibility of 30 to 40 sitting MLAs losing their tickets appears to be gaining ground. However, the absence of cabinet ministers from the first list does not mean that they will be denied tickets altogether.
The party may announce the names of cabinet ministers in its second list. The first list primarily includes candidates who have been given an early opportunity to begin preparations for the elections.
