India Call Up Auqib Nabi for First Three ODIs Against New Zealand After Prasidh Exit
India have added Auqib Nabi to their squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand after Prasidh Krishna was ruled out. The change brings the right-arm pacer into the series earlier than originally planned.
The right-arm pacer, who was initially selected only for the fourth and fifth ODIs, will now join the Indian team from the beginning of the 50-over series. The squad adjustment comes a day after Prasidh was ruled out of the entire ODI series.
Nabi was not part of India's T20I squad but had been in New Zealand with the India A team. He featured in the first unofficial Test against the hosts but was not included in the revised squad for the second match, which began on Saturday, October 31.
Prasidh, meanwhile, had been recovering from a hamstring injury but failed to regain the required match fitness and was consequently unavailable for selection. He will need additional time to build up the workload required to become match-ready and is expected to return for the subsequent Tests.
Nabi's inclusion provides India with an additional pace option for the opening three matches of the series. The right-arm pacer has played only one ODI so far, making his debut against West Indies in Guwahati last month. His promotion into the squad means he will now be available from the opening match against New Zealand on November 4.
With Prasidh Krishna ruled out and Nabi brought in earlier than initially planned, India have made a change to their pace resources ahead of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand.
