Two foreign nationals died after suspected electrocution at Bengaluru's Conrad Hotel swimming pool. An American tourist and a hotel lifeguard were injured while attempting to rescue them. Police have launched an investigation.

Two foreign nationals, a German and a Slovakian, died following suspected electrocution in the swimming pool of Bengaluru’s Conrad Hotel on Friday evening, while two others, including an American tourist and a hotel employee, were injured in attempts to rescue them.

The incident occurred at the swimming pool on the third floor of the hotel in Ulsoor. The deceased have been identified as Alexander Maximilian Theiss (57), a German national and Lufthansa crew member, and Juraj Horvat (45), a Slovak national who worked as a project manager with IBM.

The two injured persons have been identified as Mathew Desantis (41), an American national staying at the hotel as a tourist, and Rahul Tiwari (28), a pool attendant and lifeguard employed at the Conrad Hotel. Both sustained injuries while attempting to rescue the two men.

According to reports, Desantis detected an electric current while swimming in the pool and managed to swim back to safety. Meanwhile, Tiwari jumped into the pool in an attempt to save the other two men.
