A 15-year-old girl was allegedly lured, blackmailed and gang-raped by two brothers in Nalasopara East, Palghar. Police have arrested both accused after an FIR revealed details of the five-hour ordeal.
The incident came to light after the police initiated an investigation, which reportedly revealed further details about the alleged crime. The accused have been identified as Natif Sheikh (24) and Arbaz Sheikh (30), who are brothers.
According to the FIR registered at Pelhar police station, the incident took place between 7.30 am and 12.30 pm on October 27. The accused allegedly, Aman Natif Sheikh (24) and his brother Arbaz Sheikh (30), forcibly established physical relations with the 15-year-old girl inside a clothing shop near the Gavdevi temple.
The FIR states that the accused threatened the girl, warning her that if she disclosed the incident to anyone, they would send her photographs and videos to her mother and make them viral.
A case was registered against both accused at Pelhar police station late in the evening on October 30 under Sections 64(1), 65(1), 70(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
The Pelhar police subsequently arrested both accused late at night.
The girl reportedly told the police that Natif Sheikh had initially lured her through conversations and continuously manipulated her.
A woman who accompanied the girl to the police station alleged that the accused had used examples of Hindu-Muslim Bollywood couples to influence the minor. They reportedly cited Shah Rukh Khan's marriage to Gauri Khan, saying the couple was happy together. They also allegedly referred to Sonakshi Sinha's marriage to Zaheer Iqbal, claiming that the couple was living happily.
According to the allegations, the accused also sent a Hindu girl, identified as Sharma, who had already married a Muslim man, to meet the minor during the alleged process of manipulation.
The accused allegedly called the 15-year-old girl to the clothing shop and locked the door after she arrived. When the girl screamed, they allegedly forced her to consume intoxicating substances before sexually assaulting her.
The accused also allegedly asked the girl to hand over her Aadhaar card, claiming they would burn it and prepare new documents under a different name. They allegedly told her that she would be sent to Dubai, where she could live a good life.
The alleged incident, involving the abduction, sexual assault and blackmail of a minor, has led to the arrest of the two brothers. The case is being investigated by the Pelhar police under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.
