The case pertains to a village under the Pathalgaon police station area in Jashpur district. According to the information received, the accused, Ajay Puri, allegedly trapped the minor girl in a relationship and took her away after promising to marry her. During this period, the accused allegedly subjected the minor to repeated rape.
Following the incident, the police had been continuously searching for both the accused and the minor girl.
Accused Arrested in Mumbai
The Cyber Cell and police team received information through an informant and technical surveillance that the accused was hiding in Mumbai with the minor girl.
Acting on the information, the police swiftly conducted a raid in Mumbai and apprehended Ajay Puri. The minor girl was also safely recovered from the location.
The recovery of the minor girl and the arrest of the accused brought the search operation to a conclusion, following which the police proceeded with the legal formalities.
Case Registered Under BNS and POCSO Act
The police registered a case against the accused at Pathalgaon police station under Sections 137(2), 64(2)(M) and 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
After completing the legal procedures, the police produced the accused before the court, which sent him to jail.
Meanwhile, the minor girl, who was safely brought back, was handed over to her family.
The case involves allegations of abduction and repeated sexual assault of a minor, with the police completing the recovery operation and taking the accused into custody for further legal proceedings.
