Bihar MLC Election Results: Jan Suraaj Entry Intensifies Contest Across 8 Seats
Bihar MLC election results are due today across eight Graduate and Teacher seats. Jan Suraaj's candidates, RJD-Congress rivalries and Anant Singh's opposition to JD(U)'s Neeraj Kumar have intensified the contest.
Results are due today for the Patna, Darbhanga, Tirhut and Kosi Graduate MLC seats. Counting is also underway for the Patna, Darbhanga, Tirhut and Saran Teacher MLC seats.
The contest is not limited to the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. Jan Suraaj's decision to field candidates in all eight seats has made the electoral battle more competitive. Meanwhile, the RJD and Congress have fielded separate candidates in several constituencies, highlighting differences between the two parties.
The Kosi Graduate, Darbhanga Graduate, Patna Graduate and Patna Teacher MLC seats have emerged as constituencies where the RJD and Congress are directly competing against each other.
Differences have also surfaced within the NDA alliance, with some leaders expressing opposition to candidates backed by their own alliance. The Patna Graduate MLC seat has attracted particular attention because of the opposition to JD(U) candidate Neeraj Kumar by Anant Singh, the strongman MLA from Mokama.
Anant Singh actively campaigned for Dr Anuj Singh, the Jan Suraaj candidate from the Patna Graduate constituency. Following his campaign against the JD(U) candidate, the party took action and expelled Anant Singh.
With counting underway across all eight seats, the results are being closely watched amid competing political interests, differences between opposition parties and dissent within the NDA. Jan Suraaj's presence across every constituency has added another factor to the outcome of the Bihar MLC elections.
