Mamata’s Nandigram Bypoll Candidate Withdraws After Adhikari Meeting, Trinamool Chief Reacts
Mamata Banerjee backs Congress in Nandigram after her bypoll candidate withdraws following a meeting with Shubhendu Adhikari. She says TMC will continue the fight and sends a message on a future alliance.
Mamata Banerjee said, “We will fight, we will come back. In Nandigram, we will support Congress. I have spoken to Rahul ji, I have spoken to Arvind Kejriwal ji. We will not bow down. I have always been with the people and will always remain with them.”
Mamata made a major statement, saying, “In a few days, Delhi will become unstable. You all get ready to leave soon. Now Congress will be supported.” She said the decision to support Congress in Nandigram had already been considered because, according to her, “the Congress candidate is good.”
Mamata also made a series of allegations. She said, “Today it has been proved who the real Trinamool Congress is. Our workers have been crying since last night, while those people are dancing. He has come only to finish the TMC.”
She further said that the person had won four months ago on the symbol and alleged that now the party was being prevented from entering the same building in which it was formed. She said, “He has become more indulgent than a yogi.” Mamata also alleged, “These people are stealing in Ram Janmabhoomi.” She said her people were being intimidated every day by the STF and CID.
On the Election Commission, Mamata said, “Election Commission is BJP’s washing machine.” She alleged that Uddhav Thackeray’s party was broken, then the NCP was broken, and pressure was subsequently applied to support them. She also alleged that the counting was conducted by the CISF and CRPF and said, “It was hijacked.”
Mamata said the TMC was a 29-year-old party and questioned how such treatment could be given to it. She further alleged that the party’s bank account had again been frozen.
On the election symbol, Mamata said, “We have strongly protested regarding the symbol. We have been given this symbol for now. We will return to our old symbol.” She said the party had all the documents and alleged that the authorities could not do this. She also described the Election Commission as “BJP’s washing machine” and said, “Soon, Black BJP will be exposed.”
Mamata also linked the Nandigram development to a future alliance, saying she had never left the INDIA alliance and was with everyone. She said, “We supported together in the Gen Z fight.”
Calling the Nandigram decision a message for a future alliance, Mamata said, “Support in Nandigram is a message for the future alliance.” She alleged that rebels had been put to work to help the BJP and said, “The people of Bengal will never support it.”
The withdrawal of the Nandigram bypoll candidate after his meeting with Shubhendu Adhikari has therefore prompted Mamata Banerjee to announce support for Congress in the constituency while reiterating that her party would continue its political fight.
