Poonawalla said that he left the BJP after considerable thought, citing necessary personal and financial circumstances behind his decision. He said he would move into the private sector while continuing to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP’s vision wherever possible.
Speaking about his entry into reality television, Poonawalla said the title of the show is connected to his own journey. He said, “My life and journey have been full of ups and downs. In fact, this show reflects my journey, and as one chapter ends, a new chapter begins in life with challenges and opportunities.”
His brother and political commentator Tehseen Poonawalla also congratulated him on X. He described Poonawalla’s participation in the show as a new chapter and wished him success in reality television.
The confirmation of Poonawalla’s participation came after the trailer for Rise and Fall Season 2 was released online. He will appear on the show alongside actress Swara Bhasker, Bigg Boss 16 fame Priyanka Chahar Choudhary and television actor Karan Patel.
Produced by Banijay Asia, Rise and Fall Season 2 will premiere on September 26, 2026. The show will stream daily at 12 noon on Prime Video and the MX Player Android app.
Cricket legend Virender Sehwag will host the second season, replacing Ashneer Grover. Poonawalla’s transition from politics and the private sector to reality television marks a new chapter in the journey he himself has described as being filled with challenges and opportunities.
