Shirur Shooting: Young Man Killed in Daylight Firing, CCTV Captures Attack
Shirur in rural Pune was rocked by a daylight shooting on Friday morning as Hari Gangawane was killed near Ambedkar Nagar. CCTV captured the attack, while police launched a probe and search for the fleeing assailants.
The deceased has been identified as Hari Gangawane. At around 6:30 am on Friday, when normal activity had begun in the city, the sound of gunshots suddenly rang out in the Lateali area, leaving residents frightened. Locals who rushed outside their homes found Hari Gangawane lying seriously injured in a pool of blood. He had suffered gunshot wounds to a vital part of his body and died before he could be taken to hospital.
After receiving information about the incident, local residents contacted Shirur Police Station. Recognising the seriousness of the case, a large police team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ravindra Bhosale and Police Inspector Vinod Patil reached the spot within a short time. A forensic team was also called to the scene to collect crucial evidence for the investigation.

During a detailed examination of the crime scene, the forensic team found several empty cartridges lying on the ground. Police seized the recovered material. Investigators are examining all possible angles, including whether the attackers had been keeping watch on the victim and whether the shooting was linked to previous enmity, gang rivalry or a financial or land dispute.
Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby shops and the junction to trace the attackers. Special investigation teams have been dispatched in different directions to search for the assailants who fled the scene. Senior police officers expressed confidence that the accused would be apprehended soon.
The further investigation into the case is being conducted by Shirur Police.
