From Mud House to Australian Campus: Anganwadi Worker's Son Returns to Lead Local Progress!

Discover how Ignasiyus Prakash Bada journeyed from a remote village in Gadchiroli to Curtin University in Australia, making history before returning home to transform his community's future.

In a landmark achievement for the region, Ignasiyus Prakash Bada from Bande village in Gadchiroli has become the first graduate of the Lloyds Infinite Foundation's Curtin University Sponsorship Programme and has officially joined Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) as a Management Trainee. Raised near the Surjagarh Iron Ore Mine in a family of seven, Ignasiyus was brought up by his mother Sarita, an Anganwadi helper, and his father Prakash, a farmer. Despite the challenges of hailing from a remote locality, he completed his Master's in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Curtin University in Perth, Australia, before returning home to begin his professional career.

The life-changing opportunity was made possible through a CSR initiative by the Lloyds Infinite Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited, which aims to provide international exposure and higher education opportunities to promising local youth. The comprehensive scholarship fully funded Ignasiyus's tuition fees, accommodation, travel, and living expenses.

Reflecting on his journey, Ignasiyus stated that coming from Bande and studying in Australia transformed his perspective, confidence, and aspirations. He expressed deep gratitude to B. Prabhakaran for his trust and support in enabling local students to pursue higher education, adding that returning home to begin his career was a deeply meaningful part of his journey.

The successful milestone marks the fulfillment of a pledge made in 2023 by B. Prabhakaran, Managing Director of Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited, to empower local youth with global educational access and encourage them to contribute to their home region's development. Commenting on the achievement on September 17th, 2026, Prabhakaran described it as a proud moment that proves global promises can become reality in Gadchiroli, expressing confidence that Ignasiyus's story will inspire many more youngsters in the region.
