CreditAccess Grameen Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Performance with 16.4% AUM Growth and 719.7% Surge in Net Profit
CreditAccess Grameen posted a strong Q1 FY27 performance with Assets Under Management rising 16.4% to INR 30,319 crore and Profit After Tax surging 719.7% to INR 493.4 crore. The company reported higher disbursements, improved asset quality, stronger collections, expanding retail finance, healthy liquidity, and a robust capital position, reinforcing its rural lending leadership.
The company's AUM grew from INR 26,055 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year to INR 30,319 crore. Disbursements also recorded healthy growth, increasing 11.9% year-on-year from INR 5,458 crore to INR 6,107 crore. Retail Finance continued to strengthen its contribution to the overall portfolio, accounting for 20.6% of total AUM in June 2026 compared to 18.1% in March 2026.
During the quarter, CreditAccess Grameen added 2.5 lakh new borrowers, with 35% of them classified as New-to-Credit customers. The company also strengthened the quality of its Group Lending portfolio, with the share of unique borrowers increasing to 46% in the first quarter of FY27 from 36% in the corresponding quarter of FY26.
Asset quality showed notable improvement during the reporting period. Portfolio at Risk (PAR 0+) declined from 3.0% in the fourth quarter of FY26 to 2.2% in the first quarter of FY27. X-Bucket Collection Efficiency stood at an impressive 99.68% in June 2026, reflecting sustained repayment discipline across operating regions.
The company's physical network continued to expand, with the branch count rising 7.7% year-on-year from 2,114 branches in June 2025 to 2,276 branches in June 2026. The employee base also increased by 3.0% year-on-year from 21,333 employees to 21,981 employees, while the annualized quarterly attrition rate stood at 20.6%.
On the financial front, total income increased 21.9% year-on-year to INR 1,784 crore. Pre-Provision Operating Profit (PPOP) grew 33.6% year-on-year to INR 873 crore. Credit cost declined significantly by 62.8% year-on-year to INR 212.5 crore, equivalent to 0.72% on a non-annualized basis. Profit Before Tax (PBT) recorded an exceptional increase of 713.7% year-on-year, rising from INR 81.1 crore to INR 660.0 crore, while Profit After Tax increased from INR 60.2 crore to INR 493.4 crore.
The company's Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) and Net Non-Performing Assets (NNPA), measured at more than 60 days past due under Group Lending, stood at 2.18% and 0.76%, respectively, while Portfolio at Risk exceeding 90 days remained at 1.46%. CreditAccess Grameen maintained strong liquidity of INR 3,535.5 crore through cash, cash equivalents, and investments, representing 10.4% of its total assets. The company also reported a healthy Capital to Risk-Weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) of 24.9%. Its credit ratings remained unchanged at AA-/Stable from CRISIL, ICRA, and India Ratings.
Commenting on the quarterly performance, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ganesh Narayanan said the company delivered a steady and disciplined performance despite the typical seasonal impact during the first quarter and continued write-offs over the previous twelve months. He stated that the expansion of the Retail Finance portfolio reflected the successful graduation of long-tenure, credit-tested customers into secured, higher-value lending products, a trend expected to accelerate further. He also noted that the company completed a private Non-Convertible Debenture issuance of INR 425 crore during the quarter, strengthening and diversifying its liability profile. According to him, foreign borrowings accounted for 23.9% of the company's liability mix, while the capital position remained strong with a CRAR of 24.9%.
Narayanan further stated that asset quality remained within the company's expected range, supported by sustained collection efficiency across all operating geographies. He said the company's ability to recover quickly contributed to a second consecutive quarter of strong profitability improvement and expressed confidence that this momentum would continue throughout the financial year, supporting the achievement of FY27 performance guidance. He added that operating performance strengthened significantly, with PPOP increasing 33.6% year-on-year to INR 873 crore and credit cost declining 62.8% year-on-year to INR 212 crore, resulting in a PAT of INR 493 crore, representing 719.7% annual growth. He said these results establish a strong foundation for "Project Shakti," the company's transformational initiative focused on strengthening and empowering the communities it serves.
