Prasanta Phukan has represented Dibrugarh since winning the 2021 Assam Assembly elections and retained his seat in the 2026 Assam Assembly polls. He currently serves as the MLA for the 88-Dibrugarh Legislative Assembly Constituency and holds important portfolios, including Power, Skill Development, Employment, and Medical Education.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described Phukan as a veteran legislator and a dedicated voice of Dibrugarh. Extending his wishes, Sarma invoked the blessings of Maa Kamakhya and Srimanta Sankardev, praying for Phukan’s long and healthy life.
Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Ranjeet Kumar Dass, along with Ministers Pijush Hazarika and Bimal Borah, and other BJP leaders, also conveyed their greetings to the Dibrugarh MLA. The leaders acknowledged Phukan’s tireless efforts toward the welfare of Dibrugarh and his contributions to the state of Assam.
