During the meeting, the Prime Minister is learnt to have instructed lawmakers to reassure students that their interests would be fully protected and that the government remained committed to safeguarding the integrity of the examination system.
According to a person familiar with the proceedings, the Prime Minister said that those arrested in connection with the paper leak cases would receive the harshest punishment under the law. At the same time, he urged lawmakers to make students aware of what he described as attempts by the opposition to create misconceptions over the issue.
The Prime Minister's remarks came amid continuing protests by students led by the Cockroach Janata Party. On Monday, the Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced amid protests both inside and outside the Parliament complex over examination paper leaks and alleged irregularities in the conduct of competitive examinations.
Following the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju briefed the media and described the interaction as highly productive. He said the Prime Minister provided comprehensive guidance to NDA lawmakers on several important issues and highlighted the country's recent achievements, including the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) signed with multiple countries.
Rijiju said the Prime Minister also assured lawmakers that the interests of farmers would remain a top priority in every Free Trade Agreement signed by India. According to the minister, the Prime Minister emphasized that all such agreements would be designed to protect farmers while advancing the broader national interest.
The Union Minister further informed that the meeting welcomed the newly elected members of the Rajya Sabha. He also noted that Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Nabin attended the gathering for the first time as a Rajya Sabha member after assuming the party's presidency.
The meeting underscored the government's effort to address public concerns over examination paper leaks while reinforcing its commitment to protecting students' interests, ensuring strict legal action against those responsible, safeguarding farmers in international trade agreements, and maintaining coordination within the National Democratic Alliance during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
