Police Head Constable Killed in Terror Attack During Amarnath Yatra Security Duty in Anantnag
A 35-year-old police head constable, Aashiq Hussain Qureshi, was killed after suspected terrorists opened fire on a police party during Amarnath Yatra security duty in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to track down the attackers involved in the deadly incident.
The attack took place at around 12:30 pm near Lal Chowk in Anantnag, officials said. The targeted police party was engaged in security arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra when terrorists launched the firing.
The deceased officer, Head Constable Aashiq Hussain Qureshi, sustained critical injuries during the attack and was immediately taken to Government Medical College Hospital in Anantnag. Doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.
Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched an operation to trace and neutralize the terrorists involved in the incident.
The killing of the police personnel during a security deployment has triggered heightened security measures in the area, with forces continuing efforts to locate those responsible for the attack.
