VinFast Engineers Share Five Simple Habits to Extend Electric Vehicle Battery Life and Enhance Long-Term Performance
VinFast has released expert guidance on maintaining electric vehicle battery health through five simple daily habits. The recommendations cover charging practices, temperature management, driving style, storage, and battery charge levels, while highlighting long-term battery durability, advanced Battery Management System technology, and the company's continued global expansion.
Addressing one of the most frequently asked questions from customers about maintaining battery health, VinFast engineers explained that the advanced Battery Management System continuously monitors and protects the battery. The system automatically manages battery functions, allowing owners to focus on driving without worrying about complex technical details.
The recommendations apply across the company's electric vehicle lineup, including the VF 6, VF 7, MPV 7, and Limo Green models.
VinFast engineers recommend adopting smooth and progressive acceleration during daily driving. While the vehicles are capable of delivering rapid acceleration when required, gentle driving habits help maintain stable battery temperatures and reduce unnecessary stress on the battery. This approach also improves passenger comfort and enhances driving efficiency by maximizing the distance covered on every charge.
For routine charging, the company advises owners to use standard direct current chargers, such as 60-kilowatt charging stations, whenever available. Super-fast chargers with outputs of 120 kilowatts and above should primarily be reserved for long-distance travel or situations requiring rapid charging. According to VinFast, higher charging speeds generate additional heat inside lithium-ion batteries, and controlling heat is an important factor in preserving long-term battery State of Health.
Temperature management is another key recommendation from the company's engineers. Vehicle owners are encouraged to park in covered parking areas, underground facilities, or shaded locations whenever possible. VinFast stated that prolonged exposure to high temperatures accelerates the natural ageing process of lithium-ion battery cells. The company recommends keeping battery temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius whenever practical, although it noted that the vehicles are engineered to withstand occasional exposure to direct sunlight.
For everyday driving, VinFast advises maintaining the battery charge between 20 percent and 80 percent, describing this range as the ideal operating window for routine use. Charging the battery to 100 percent is recommended only before long journeys, with the company suggesting that drivers begin their trip soon after the battery reaches full charge instead of leaving the vehicle parked at maximum charge for extended periods. According to the company, maintaining the battery within the recommended range helps reduce electrochemical stress and slows long-term battery degradation.
The company also issued guidance for owners planning to leave their vehicles unused for several weeks. VinFast recommends storing the vehicle with at least 30 percent battery charge to ensure battery stability and maintain the readiness of the vehicle's integrated safety systems during extended storage periods.
Highlighting the broader outlook on battery longevity, VinFast stated that battery wear is a gradual process occurring over many years. The company referred to an analysis of nearly 10,000 electric vehicle battery health tests, which found that many popular electric vehicles retained 95 percent or more of their original battery capacity after covering 100,000 kilometres.
VinFast further announced that it will introduce the Care & Share feature on the VinFast application in August 2026. The platform is intended to provide owners with a dedicated space to ask questions and receive direct guidance from VinFast engineers regarding vehicle operation and maintenance.
VinFast, listed on the NASDAQ under the symbol VFS and operating as a subsidiary of Vingroup JSC, manufactures electric sport utility vehicles, electric scooters, and electric buses. The company stated that it is expanding its global distribution network and manufacturing capacity with a strategic focus on North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Through these recommendations, VinFast aims to encourage simple daily practices that can help owners maximize battery life while continuing to enjoy the performance, efficiency, and reliability of their electric vehicles.
