Kanishka Narayan was born in Bihar, India, and moved to Cardiff at the age of 12. After completing his early education at Cathays High School, he pursued higher studies at the University of Oxford. According to his LinkedIn profile, he later earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Stanford University.
Narayan entered politics in 2024 and was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales, helping Labour regain the constituency after 14 years. His election also marked a historic milestone as he became the first ethnic minority Member of Parliament from Wales. Before joining the ministerial ranks, he also served as Parliamentary Private Secretary for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
