Philips Avent Launches Sterilizer and Dryer Premium in India to Strengthen Infant Hygiene and Simplify Daily Parenting
Royal Philips has launched the Philips Avent Sterilizer and Dryer Premium in India, introducing a compact all-in-one appliance that sterilizes, dries and stores baby feeding essentials. Backed by science-led research and consumer insights, the product aims to improve infant hygiene, provide enhanced germ protection compared with traditional boiling methods and simplify daily parenting routines.
The company said the new product addresses a growing need among parents for reliable hygiene solutions that integrate seamlessly into daily feeding routines. Findings from the campaign indicated that the Philips Avent Sterilizer provides up to two times better germ protection than traditional boiling methods. The survey also found that infants in households using the sterilizer fell ill less frequently than those in households relying on boiling. Building on those findings, the Philips Avent Sterilizer and Dryer Premium combines steam sterilization with filtered air drying in a single appliance.
The launch reflects Philips Avent's continued focus on supporting informed parenting through consumer education and meaningful innovation. The company said the appliance is designed to make infant hygiene practices easier to adopt every day by combining effective sterilization, filtered-air drying and convenient storage in one compact unit.
Commenting on the launch, Smit Shukla, Country Head, Philips Personal Health, Philips Indian Subcontinent, said Philips Avent has always aimed to support parents throughout their parenting journey by staying closely connected with consumers and understanding their needs. He said that after receiving an overwhelming response to the company's sterilizer awareness campaign, many parents requested a drying function in addition to sterilization. He added that the new Philips Avent Sterilizer and Dryer not only provides two times better germ protection compared with boiling but also dries baby feeding essentials, making daily routines easier for parents while helping protect babies from harmful germs.
The Philips Avent Sterilizer and Dryer Premium is designed to simplify one of the most frequent daily parenting tasks by combining sterilization, drying and storage in a single appliance. Using pure steam technology, it eliminates 99.9 percent of harmful germs without the use of chemicals, providing parents with a trusted solution for maintaining the hygiene of baby feeding equipment.
According to the company, the appliance completes a full sterilization and drying cycle in 40 minutes, allowing bottles and accessories to be prepared for the next feeding session without unnecessary delay. It also keeps contents sterile for up to 24 hours when the lid remains unopened after a complete sterilization cycle, providing greater flexibility for parents throughout the day.
The Sterilizer and Dryer Premium is designed to accommodate up to six Philips Avent bottles along with accessories such as bottle teats, soothers and a manual breast pump. Its compact design combines spacious capacity with sterilization, drying and storage functions, reducing the need for multiple appliances while simplifying daily hygiene routines.
The Philips Avent Sterilizer and Dryer Premium (SCF293/00) is available in India at a starting price of Rs. 7,495.
Royal Philips, headquartered in the Netherlands, is a leading health technology company focused on improving health and well-being through meaningful innovation. The company develops patient- and people-centric solutions by combining advanced technology with clinical and consumer insights. Its portfolio includes diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, image-guided therapy, patient monitoring, enterprise informatics and personal health products. Philips reported sales of EUR 18 billion in 2025 and employs approximately 64,300 people across more than 100 countries.
The company stated that its claim of providing two times better germ protection is based on comparative contamination rates for Klebsiella pneumoniae observed immediately after sterilization or boiling. The findings are derived from a multicentric real-world survey conducted by IQVIA across 120 participants in four major Indian cities during July and August 2025. The survey compared the effectiveness of the Philips Avent Sterilizer with traditional boiling methods for sterilizing baby feeding equipment. The company noted that actual germ protection depends on proper usage, maintenance and hygiene practices, and individual results may vary.
Philips also stated that the survey found lower contamination rates and reduced frequency, severity and recovery time of infant illnesses among households using the sterilizer compared with boiling methods. The company clarified that these findings do not constitute medical advice and recommended consulting healthcare professionals for medical guidance.
According to independent laboratory testing, the appliance is effective against harmful microorganisms including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Cronobacter sakazakii, Salmonella enterica and Listeria monocytogenes. The company further stated that the appliance can maintain sterility for up to 24 hours, provided the sterilizer lid remains unopened after a complete 10-minute sterilization cycle.
The launch of the Philips Avent Sterilizer and Dryer Premium reinforces the company's commitment to advancing infant hygiene through science-backed innovation while offering parents a practical solution that combines sterilization, drying and storage in a single compact appliance.
