National Clean Beauty Day: Kiro Reaffirms Its Commitment to Transparent, Skincare-First Makeup with Clinically Backed Formulations

On National Clean Beauty Day, Kiro reaffirmed its commitment to clean beauty through transparent ingredient selection, clinically backed skincare-first formulations, responsible sourcing, sustainable packaging, and high-performance makeup. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Vasundhara Patni highlighted the brand's philosophy of delivering products that combine beauty, performance, and skin care without compromise.

As National Clean Beauty Day, observed on July 15, shines a spotlight on the global shift toward more conscious beauty choices, consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the ingredients in the products they use every day. The clean beauty conversation has evolved beyond focusing solely on what is excluded from formulations to understanding what is included, why each ingredient is necessary, and how every product is thoughtfully developed.

For Kiro, this philosophy has been the foundation of the brand since its inception. As one of the early clean beauty brands that helped redefine the Indian makeup industry, Kiro was established on the belief that women should never have to choose between high-performing cosmetics and products that respect and care for their skin.

The brand's product portfolio reflects this philosophy through skincare-first formulations combined with makeup performance. The Barely There Skin Tint is a four-in-one skin tint with SPF 35 PA+++ that blends skincare and makeup while delivering lightweight, breathable, sheer coverage. The Velvet Souffle Hydrating Matte Lipstick combines rich colour with nourishing ingredients, including CoQ10, Aquaxyl, and Reishi Mushroom, offering hydrated and nourished lips. The Airy Matte Lipstick is a lightweight, transfer-proof matte lipstick infused with Avocado Oil and Apricot Oil to provide hydration, comfort, and nourishment throughout the day.

"When we started Kiro, we kept coming back to one simple thought: if women are wearing makeup for hours every day, those products deserve the same level of thought and care that we expect from skincare. That belief became the foundation of everything we create—from the ingredients we choose to the way every formula is developed and tested," said Vasundhara Patni, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kiro.

With makeup becoming an integral part of everyday life rather than being reserved for special occasions, Kiro believes products remain on the skin for extended periods and therefore require thoughtful formulation. According to the brand, clean beauty is not defined by a list of ingredients to avoid but by taking responsibility for every ingredient used in a formulation, ensuring each serves a clear purpose while prioritising consumer skin health.

The company maintains that every ingredient should justify its inclusion, every product claim should be supported by evidence, and every formulation should fulfil the promises made to consumers. This philosophy extends beyond product development to ingredient selection, clinical testing, responsible sourcing, packaging decisions, and transparent communication across the organisation.

"Clean beauty is not always the easiest path, and it certainly isn't the cheapest one. Thoughtful formulations cost more. Rigorous testing costs more. Responsible sourcing and considered packaging choices require greater investment. These decisions impact costs, timelines and the way we build the business. But if we believe women should not have to compromise on the products they use every day, then we have to hold ourselves to that same standard. Responsibility cannot be a marketing layer; it has to be built into every decision we make," Patni said.

Kiro also emphasises sustainability as an integral part of responsible beauty. The company states that its approach is not based on claiming perfection but on making conscious decisions at every stage of product development, including packaging, while balancing environmental responsibility, functionality, and accessibility. It believes sustainability, like clean formulation, should remain embedded within the business rather than exist as an isolated initiative.

The brand highlighted that its no-compromise philosophy is reflected throughout its portfolio. The Barely There SPF 35 Skin Tint combines hydration, sun protection, and lightweight coverage in a single formulation designed for modern lifestyles. The Velvet Souffle Hydrating Matte Lipstick, enriched with CoQ10 and Aquaxyl, has been clinically tested and demonstrated a 59 per cent improvement in hydration and a 23 per cent improvement in skin barrier function while providing up to eight hours of dermatologist-assessed wear. Innovations such as Pigment Drops further reinforce the company's focus on personalised beauty and shades specifically designed for Indian skin tones.

Kiro also focuses on creating products that suit the realities of modern lifestyles through multifunctional formulations, comfortable all-day textures, and shades developed for diverse Indian complexions.

"We have always believed that products should work harder so women don't have to. The modern woman does not need more steps; she needs better solutions. Our responsibility is to create products that fit into her life, products that perform, feel good on the skin and genuinely earn their place in her routine," Patni added.

The company stated that it continues to build consumer trust through clinically substantiated claims, ingredient-focused communication, and authentic campaign imagery featuring real skin with minimal retouching.

Marking National Clean Beauty Day, Kiro reaffirmed that its long-standing philosophy remains centred on intentional ingredient selection, clinically validated formulations, responsible business practices, transparent communication, and high-performance makeup designed to care for the skin without compromise.
