Delhi Airport Customs Bust Major Drug Smuggling Attempt, Hydroponic Marijuana Seized from Aircraft
Delhi Customs exposed a major drug smuggling attempt at Indira Gandhi International Airport after recovering six sealed packets of hydroponic marijuana hidden beneath aircraft seats on a flight from Phuket, Thailand. The accused confessed to concealing the narcotics and was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as the investigation continues.
The passenger, who arrived in Delhi on a flight from Phuket, Thailand, was intercepted by Customs officials on suspicion of involvement in drug smuggling. A thorough search of the passenger's baggage did not reveal any contraband. However, officials expanded the inspection and conducted an intensive search of the aircraft.
During the search, Customs officials recovered six sealed packets hidden beneath the seats in the twelfth row of the aircraft. Examination of the packets confirmed that they contained hydroponic marijuana.
During questioning, the accused admitted to concealing the packets inside the aircraft. Following the confession, Customs officials seized the narcotic substance and arrested the accused under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Further investigation has been initiated to determine the full scope of the smuggling operation and identify any possible links connected to the case.
