Two Separate Fire Incidents Reported in Mumbai, No Injuries Recorded
Two separate fire incidents were reported in Mumbai at Bandra West and Lohar Chawl, involving a basement shop and a Bank of Baroda branch. Mumbai Fire Brigade teams, police personnel, and civic authorities responded swiftly. No injuries or casualties were reported, while investigations into the causes of both fires continue.
A fire broke out at a closed shop located in the basement of the Nature’s Basket building on Hill Road in Bandra West during the early hours of Saturday, officials said.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Mumbai Fire Brigade, the incident was reported at 12:22 am on Saturday. The fire occurred in the basement of the G-plus-2-storey structure, following which firefighting teams were deployed to control the blaze.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade classified the incident as a Level-I fire at 12:59 am. Fire brigade personnel, Mumbai Police officials, representatives from the concerned electricity distribution company, Public Works Department officials, and BMC ward staff reached the spot and coordinated the firefighting operation.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
In another incident, a Level-I fire broke out at a Bank of Baroda branch located in Lohar Chawl’s Mangaldas Market in south Mumbai late on Sunday night, leading to a large-scale emergency response.
Officials said the fire was reported at 10:52 pm, while the Mumbai Fire Brigade declared it a Level-I fire at 11:30 pm.
The blaze erupted on the first floor of an approximately 2,000-square-foot premises inside a ground-plus-one-storey building, where dense smoke had spread across the area.
Senior fire officials, including the Divisional Fire Officer, Senior Station Officer, and three Station Officers, reached the location along with multiple firefighting vehicles. The response team included one fire engine, one fire tender, two mini water tankers, four jumbo tankers, one aerial water tower tender, and one breathing apparatus van.
Personnel from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, BEST, BMC ward staff, and the 108 ambulance service were also deployed to support the emergency operation.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Firefighting operations were underway during the latest update, while authorities continued efforts to determine the cause of the blaze.
The two separate fire incidents highlight the swift coordination between emergency agencies in Mumbai to contain urban fires and prevent further damage in densely populated areas.
